CAMERA WORK
American Refuge (post prod.)
As assistant camera for this on-the-fly American West documentary, I mastered the anticipation of camera movements and storyline development. This teaser showcases my instinctual focus pulls and occasional shots of my own camera work. American Refuge is an ongoing project by Deranged Penguin and is directed and produced by Eric Coombs Esmail & Chris Hammons.
Storyline: As the homeless flee the gentrifying cities of the American West and take refuge in nearby forests, the residents of a small, mountain town in Colorado, led by a progressive minister who was himself once homeless, must learn to live with the strangers in their midst and the limitations of the American dream.
Lemonade (2018)
As second assistant camera on this short narrative piece I gained valuable first hand experience with the RED Digital Cinema Camera. Lemonade is a Deranged Penguin project. Directed, written, and produced by Chris Hammons.
Storyline: In a suburban dreamland, on a hot summer day, tween girls Delilah and Iris are selling lemonade, but their only customer is Delilah’s younger brother, and he doesn’t have any money. Childhood comes to a bittersweet end when the two tween girls are flipped off by a teenage boy with really great hair.
